More Vintage VW Dash Love

Another look inside a vintage VW bug. In addition to the updated sound system, this particular 1966 Beetle has an 1835cc engine and a Super Street 4 transmission. (Don’t know much about the mechanical specs, but it was on the window of the car.) To me, it’s still that VW Beetle minimalist dash: speedometer; gas gauge; and those distinctive control knobs. I remember how those controls feel, like it was yesterday. Photographed at the Seaside Spectacular 7th Annual Collector’s Car Show at Point Lookout, Long Island, NY, USA.

  1. My 1964 didn’t have a gas gauge, but it had a lever to switch to a spare gallon (to let you know how close to empty you were). I love VW Bugs. My second one was a ’74.
