(July 16, 2013) — Nickerson Beach is a remarkable place for bird photography. It’s located along the Atlantic Ocean, on the South Shore of Long Island, NY (about 40 miles east of New York City). American Oystercatchers and other birds enjoy protected nesting spots here.

As the waves rush out, Oystercatchers probe the sand for food. This adult will give what it finds to its little one.
