Return of the Winter Ducks
I was outside in short-sleeves last Wednesday, but the ducks that spend the winter in New York are arriving.
I photographed this female Green-winged Teal at a small pond in Baldwin, Long Island, NY. It seemed to be the only Teal there, hanging around with the local, year-round Mallards. The Teal is smaller than the Mallards, but more revealing is the wedge of green peeking out from under it’s wing.
